Grief seeks Loss -
and moves in, uninvited,
Maggot-like,
it hollows out a core;
Dipped in Guilt
a sepulchre is whited,
Filled with Pain
a residence is built;
Bricked with Fear
and shuttered up with hating,
Dark and drear
the empty rooms above,
Sealed within,
Grief settles down to waiting;
Late, so late!
arrives the bailiff, Love.
